She obtained her BSC (Audiology) qualification at the University of Cape Town. She further obtained a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Intervention (MECI), from the University of Pretoria. She completed her PhD with the University of KwaZulu Natal. Dr Gina’s clinical experience involves diagnosing and managing audiological pathologies in the adult and paediatric population. She has interests in early hearing detection and intervention. Dr Gina founded the Madadeni Hospital TB hearing monitoring programme in 2010. She was the co-ordinator of the new-born hearing screening programme in Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Gauteng province from 2013-2015. In 2015-2016, she was the programme manager for the Amajuba New-born hearing screening programme. The programme entailed the development of a universal new-born hearing screening programme in a semi-rural community in KwaZulu Natal. She is currently teaching in the areas of Adult Diagnostic Assessments, Rehabilitation technology and Paediatric Audiology Assessment. She is also involved in undergraduate and postgraduate research supervision. Is a member of the KZN Auditory Implant Programme and the Durban Cochlear Implant Programme, which is the first state run cochlear implant programme in KwaZulu Natal.
